Glasses Direct Selects Coremetrics to Gain Insight into
Customer Behaviour

Slough, United Kingdom, 21 September 2009Glasses Direct, the UK’s largest internet prescription glasses retailer, has selected Coremetrics, the leader in marketing optimisation, to deliver a personalised experience to its customers and increase average order value.  The deal delivers analytics package, Coremetrics Analytics™, personalised recommendation engine, Coremetrics Intelligent Offer™, and replaces Google Analytics.

Coremetrics Analytics will provide Glasses Direct with up-to-date, actionable insight into customer behaviour, with each click over each visitors’ lifetime captured and stored as a Lifetime Individual Visitor Experience (LIVE) Profile™.  Using this information, Glasses Direct will be able to effectively tailor its website and marketing campaigns to engage individual customers and drive sales.

Coremetrics Intelligent Offer will add to this unique customer experience, by automatically generating personalised product recommendations, to further increase  conversions, overall average order value and customer retention.

Chris Simpson, Head of Marketing at Glasses Direct comments:  “As a purely online business, we knew we needed more customer centric data, rather than session based, to ensure our website delivers the most relevant and engaging experience for our customers.  Coremetrics was recommended to us by a peer, and its products will enable us to optimise our marketing campaigns and automatically drive results through personalisation.”

Richard Sheppard, VP and General Manager, Coremetrics EMEA added:  “Glasses Direct recognises the need to place its customers at the centre of its marketing strategy.  By using customer insights from Coremetrics to inform its online marketing campaigns, Glasses Direct will be able to increase customer loyalty and order values at a time when consumers are at their most cautious.”

About Glasses Direct
Glassesdirect.co.uk is the UK’s largest internet prescription glasses retailer.  Prescription glasses are extremely expensive in the UK; following an eye test costing up to £20 a customer can expect to pay from £50 for basic spectacle models and up to £400 for designer eyeglasses and/or complicated lenses.

Significantly undercutting high-street opticians, glassesdirect.co.uk has introduced a new way to buy prescription glasses. Launched in July 2004, glassesdirect.co.uk sells prescription eyewear over the internet and by mail that significantly undercut high street prices, selling a range of eyewear with basic frames and lenses starting at £19, in total.

The business is operated maintaining low overheads, and the savings are passed on to the customer. So far, it is estimated that glassesdirect.co.uk has saved the British public around £4m on their spectacle purchases.  Glasses Direct won ‘Natwest Small Business of the Year’ in 2005 as well as a string of entrepreneurial awards for its founder, Jamie Murray Wells.
